What FreierTermin is, what it is not, and how to make the most of it.
Is FreierTermin a government authority?
No. FreierTermin is an independent service by Kaya Bytes from Cologne and not an official offering of any authority. We help you find the responsible office and free appointments – booking always happens on the authority's official website.
Does FreierTermin cost anything?
No. Search, map, alerts and saved appointments are free. There are no paid privileges and no trading of appointments.
Can I book an appointment directly through FreierTermin?
No. We take you to the authority's official booking link, where you book yourself. We do not send personal data to government systems and do not fill in forms for you.
Where does the information about free appointments come from?
Only from booking systems we are verifiably allowed to query. For every other authority we show the official link and the status "Not available live". We never invent availability and never bypass security measures such as CAPTCHAs.
What do the statuses "Available", "No appointments found", "Not available live" and "Check required" mean?
"Available" means there were free appointments at the last check. "No appointments found": the check ran, but nothing was free. "Not available live": we are not allowed to check this system automatically – use the official link. "Check required": the last check failed or is outdated. Every status shows when it was last determined.
How do appointment alerts work?
With an account you create an alert for a request, place and period. When a matching appointment opens up we notify you by e-mail or push – with the official booking link. Each booking system is checked at most once per interval, no matter how many people are waiting for it.
What data does FreierTermin store about me?
As little as possible: e-mail address and name for your account, your alerts and saved appointments. We only use your location if you explicitly agree, and we never store identity documents. You can export your data at any time and delete your account completely.
In which cities does FreierTermin work?
We start with Cologne, Leipzig and Berlin and gradually expand the directory to all of Germany. Every city openly shows whether its data is already verified or still in progress.
What is the difference between the responsible office and the nearest office?
The nearest office is the one closest to you. The responsible office is the one that, according to the rules, is in charge of your place of residence or your request – which may be a different one. We show both and say clearly when responsibility has not yet been confirmed.
Do I need an account?
Not for search and the map. You need a free account for appointment alerts, saved appointments and reminders.
Frequently asked questions
Can I submit applications through FreierTermin?
No. FreierTermin is not a public authority and does not submit anything on behalf of its users. We link to official online services and forms and help you prepare an e-mail to the authority. You send the e-mail yourself from your own e-mail app, and you submit applications directly on the official website.
Does FreierTermin support BundID?
No. BundID is the federal government's user account and can't be integrated by private providers like FreierTermin. Many of the official online services we link to use BundID or the online ID function (Online-Ausweisfunktion) themselves – you then log in directly with the authority. We don't see any of it.
Does FreierTermin store my e-mails to authorities?
No. The text is put together only in your browser and sent via your own e-mail app. The authority's reply goes straight to your inbox. FreierTermin sees neither the text nor the reply.
Why is there no e-mail address for some authorities?
We only show addresses that an official source lists – and we state the source. We never guess (e.g. “[email protected]”). If an address is missing, we point you to the official contact page and the phone number.
